- QHow is a STARK Lab science class different from a typical cram school?
- STARK Lab teaches experiment first, theory second: children observe a phenomenon with their own hands, then the teacher explains the principle behind it. Every class includes a real hands-on experiment — students do it themselves rather than watch a demonstration. That is a very different approach from a cram school that teaches only what is on the test; the aim is for children to genuinely understand science and enjoy it.
- QDo the Chinese-taught and All-English classes run the same experiments?
- The experiments and topics are exactly the same; only the language of instruction differs. Chinese-taught classes explain the science in Mandarin, while All-English classes are taught entirely in English — a natural fit for children in bilingual education or who want to use English in a real setting.
- QWhat is the difference between Foundation and Advanced? Can my child join the other level?
- Foundation is for Grades 1–3 and Advanced for Grades 4–6. Both are built from stand-alone experiment units, so children can join at any time. The difference lies in difficulty and age-appropriate design. We place children by their current school grade rather than across levels.
- QDoes the Intensive class require sitting the Jiansing gifted-class exam?
- Not at all — children who are not sitting the gifted-class exam are welcome in the Intensive class. Every family has different goals: some use it as an early start on junior-high biology and physical science, others simply love in-depth science. As long as a child can keep up, STARK Lab never requires anyone to sit the gifted-class exam.
- QWhat does tuition cover? Do we need to bring materials?
- Tuition includes all lab materials, so there is nothing to buy. Children only need a notebook and stationery; STARK Lab provides every reagent, instrument and consumable used in the experiments.
- QHow do we book a trial class, and what does it cost?
- Add our LINE official account @starklab and tell us your child’s grade and the class you are interested in. We will confirm a trial date and the fee (one full or half single-class fee, depending on the class). On the trial day your child joins a regular class and does the experiment alongside the other students — there is no separate trial session.
