CHAPTER I

All-in-One Course Management SystemSYSTEM

Greater efficiency, more thoughtful service

Attendance, leave, bills, make-up classes and what to practise next, all in LINE. Scheduled to open to parents in October.

Did my child attend today? How much is due this month? How is a missed class made up? Until now, you had to message us on LINE and wait for a reply. Now it is all in the system, ready whenever you open it, so you have the full picture yourself.

The questions you ask us most now have answers

  • CLASSES

    “When is the next class?”
The home screen shows the date and time of the next class.
    “Did my child attend today?”
Attendance for every class can be checked at any time.
  • LEAVE AND MAKE-UPS

“Can my child take leave for this class?”
You can request leave at any time, and it syncs to the attendance system.
“How does my child make up a missed class?”
Parents are notified automatically when the make-up video is posted, and a time is arranged for the hands-on work to be made up in person.
  • FEES

“How much do I pay this month?”
The bill lists every class: how many were attended, which class was deducted for leave, and the balance due.
“How much prepaid credit is left?”
Every top-up and deduction is on record.
    “Can I pay online?”
Yes. In addition to bank transfer, credit card and LINE Pay are now available.
  • LEARNING

“Which concepts is my child still unsure of?”
Each practice test (currently science only) is answered on an answer sheet and analyzed, listing in detail the concepts each child has not yet grasped. Teachers can also see more quickly which concepts need thorough review, making teaching more precise and efficient.
“Where should my child go back to for what they missed?”
So that children can keep strengthening their understanding at home, every practice-test analysis includes a guide to the class video segments on the related concepts, so students can take their teacher home with them and review precisely.
  • PICK-UP

“I’m at the door. Can my child come out?”
Tap once in LINE, and the classroom screen reminds your child to get ready for pick-up. Parents no longer need to get out of the car and wait, and traffic near the classroom flows more smoothly.

Screens are illustrations of the system; names and amounts are examples.

Make-up Videos

Every class,
fully subtitled.

To help students watch make-up videos more easily and with better focus, we use AI speech recognition to add subtitles to every make-up video.

Videos can be watched for 45 days from the date of release. To protect every child in the class, viewing requires signing in, and each account can play on only one device at a time.

Make-up video screen: subtitles appear below as the teacher explains
  • Chapters

Jump straight to the part you want to review.

  • Resume

Close it midway, and next time it plays from where you left off.

  • Slow it down

Can’t keep up? Slow it down and hear every sentence clearly.

Practice-Test Analysis × Make-up Videos

Wherever the mistake is,
go back to that part of that class

  1. 01

    Practice test

After a child finishes a practice paper, the answer sheet is scanned and the system marks each question.

  2. 02

    Find the sticking point

It shows which units are secure, which need more practice, and which concept a wrong answer may trace back to.

  3. 03

    Back to that segment

It recommends which class to rewatch and from which minute, with subtitles, to fill in the part that was missed.

Example: for a wrongly answered acceleration question, the system identifies the concept that may be the sticking point and recommends rewatching the class video segment on reading acceleration

The result of every practice is recorded, so teachers and parents have a clear view of each child’s progress.

Junior High Science Handouts, Fully UpdatedHANDOUTS

Handouts are the foundation of learning quality,
and we want to give children the very best

Beyond listing formulas, we want students to understand where those formulas come from; beyond practice questions, we want them to learn how to analyze a question. With these ideas in mind, we have poured ten years of teaching experience into the design of these new handouts.

About the handouts, you might ask

  • Original handout page, highlighting understanding 01 UNDERSTANDING

“Not just memorizing formulas, but understanding them”

Every concept now comes with the “why”: for example, why the lever arm is defined the way it is. What is understood is remembered, and a question asked a different way is no cause for panic.

  • Original handout page, highlighting problem solving 02 PROBLEM SOLVING

“Stuck on a problem: where do I start?”

From concept analysis to question breakdown: these are the skills we want students to build. With solid fundamentals, no variation of a question type is intimidating.

  • Original handout page, highlighting practice 03 PRACTICE

“Where do I write out my working?”

To save on printing costs, handouts usually leave little room for full calculations. We want students to practise writing out complete working, so we made that space larger instead.

Journal-quality illustrations

Every illustration weighs depth, realism and teaching purpose before it goes into the handouts. All 759 illustrations have been redrawn.

Tuition AdjustmentTUITION

What we choose is a higher standard

Every extra dollar you pay should be visible in where it goes.

  1. 01

    Recruiting outstanding teachers

As is widely known, science teachers are leaving education rapidly for high-paying jobs in the tech industry, and fewer and fewer are willing to stay in the classroom. We cannot let excellent teachers serve children while going without themselves, so we must offer better pay to keep talented people.

  2. 02

    Equipment and consumables

International chemical reagents and all equipment are rising in price, but we will not compromise: one set per student, hands-on for everyone. We will also work to acquire enough research-grade Vernier digital sensors to bring them into our regular classes soon.

  3. 03

    System development and better service

AI is changing the world faster than ever, and education has to keep pace, so we use technology to stay at the forefront. We also want parents to have almost nothing to worry about while their children study at STARK Lab, so a more complete, systematic service is our biggest current goal.

A visible adjustment is better than an invisible cutback

In our classroom, everyone knows our lab benches are larger and deeper than most, and these large benches have always seated only two students, so that each student has enough room to work and students keep a safe distance from one another, avoiding accidents caused by bumping into each other.

When costs rise, a common approach is to seat three students at each bench instead, raising profit by increasing student numbers, and parents usually do not notice.

But we believe safety cannot be sacrificed. It is the foundation of the trust parents place in us.
